The toll for this abuse can be seen through direct damage to health by substance abuse and its link to physical and emotional trauma. Finding effective treatment for and prevention of substance abuse is the only way to achieve full recovery.

The philosophy of Turning Point Substance Abuse Programme is one of total abstinence from all illicit drugs, alcohol and the misuse of prescription drugs. We believe that abstinence will lead to a better quality of life and subsequent holistic healing. We treat the disease of addiction on an individual basis to achieve these goals, recognising the need for a mutual agreement between staff and service users in order for treatment expectations to be met.

Turning Point offers treatment to persons over the age of 18. Those services include individual counselling, case management and referral services tailored to individual service user needs. We believe that individual and group counselling, medication assisted treatment, support groups and inpatient detoxification are effective methods for treating persons who are addicted. On request, Turning Point staff will assist family, friends and employers to intervene to persuade individuals to seek treatment.
