What does a Sterile Processing Technician do?

A Sterile Processing Technician works under the director of the Sterile Processing Coordinator. The technician is responsible for the decontaminating, preparing, and processing of surgical instrumentation, treatment trays and equipment used for patient care.

What qualifications and experience does the hospital require?

• High School Graduate.
• Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and medical terminology.
• Previous Central Sterile Processing experience or CS technician course, or equivalent.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting.
