What does a Clinical Dietitian do?

A Clinical Dietitian serves as the nutritional consultant to the assigned health care teams, clinical units and programs. Under the general direction of the Professional Practice Leader the Clinical Dietitian initiates the nutritional care process according to established clinical guidelines, standards of practice and P&P’s for Clinical Dietitian Services. The Clinical Dietitian works in close collaboration with the PPL, the Program Manager and the Clinical Coordinator/Team Leaders to provide ethical nutritional care service in an effective and efficient manner. As a member of the Clinical Dietitian Service Team, the Clinical Dietitian consistency reviews services provided and works with the health care team and the dietetic team to continue to improve services and patient outcome.

What qualifications and experience does the hospital require?

• Bachelors’ or Masters of Science degree from an accredited university with a major in Nutrition/Dietetics.
• General or Clinical Internship or equivalent from an accredited hospital certified by the American Dietetic Association, the Canadian Dietetic Association or the British Dietetic Association.
• Registered in the country of training.
• Registered with the Council on Professions Supplementary to Medicine in Bermuda.
